What will you be like in 20 years?

I guess one of the most important aspects of my focus in chiropractic is quality of life. I have seen firsthand how inactivity has such adverse effects on the quality of a persons existence.

The human body will thrive only if you place demands upon it, it will wither if you don't. And this is true whether you are 8 or 80. I recently posted a link on our Swank Chiropractic facebook to an article about how common it is becoming to live to 100 and beyond. Great! Maybe our retirement accounts will have recovered from the crash by then...But the point is, what will we be like should we see our 100th birthday. Will we be able to get around and enjoy our century of existence, taking what comes at us? Or will we be confined to a wheelchair or bed often restrained for our own safety?

If you want to be like you are now in 20 years, start (or hopefully continue) to keep yourself as you are now. Exercise daily for 20 minutes, stretch, eat right, drink water, have fun with your friends and family, get enough rest. And receive chiropractic care. Chiropractic adjustments help keep you moving. We help eliminate and/or sometimes manage mechanical problems in your frame in ways that you cannot.

Human beings are creatures of habit. We go to the same places, we do the same things at work. Even those of us who exercise, tend to do the same things. As a result, the repetitive activities cause similar stresses. And this is what often leads to problems. Add in injury, genetics, stress, overuse, etc. and there is a recipe for problems.

I strive to correct musculoskeletal problems; both during the initial phase of care at my office and during the maintenance phase of care. Helping to keep you moving is not to be understated. In general, everything in your body will function better with activity. And better function leads to a longer, healthier, happier life.
